American Chestnut Wood Wall Plates

Virgin Timber Lumber Co. offers premium American chestnut wood wall plates for sale on our secure website. We make them in-house from our stock of hand-selected reclaimed lumber.

Once a dominant tree in the Appalachian forest, the American Chestnut was decimated by disease in the early twentieth century, and by the 1930’s the species was wiped out. Today, chestnut lumber can only be obtained by reclaiming wood from old buildings.

Chestnut lumber has an open, porous grain texture and a beautiful warm color tone. In addition to the patina of the reclaimed wood, worm holes will often add interest and complexity to the wood grain. Not all chestnut plates will contain worm holes.

Our wood wall plates are shipped sanded and unfinished. This will allow you to match your existing woodwork or finish your plates to your desired appearance. Antiqued stainless steel fastening screws are included with your wall plate order.
