The table, along with a bunch of long desktops, was made with hemlock lumber salvaged in Minden, West Virginia. As you can see the table top was built with curved sides (resembling a football from above). The thought behind this was that the shape would foster better face-to-face communication. At it’s widest point the table top was 5 feet across.
The steel base was an original design by Eric Autenreith, a local jack-of-all-trades craftsman, electrician, environmental advocate. Among other salvaged metal items, it was made from automobile leaf springs!
